Kiwi Star Aesha Scott Shares Mediterranean Highlights from Below Deck

Aesha Scott, a beloved figure from the reality series Below Deck, recently opened up about her experiences filming Season 10 in the Mediterranean. During the production, which typically spans six weeks but often extends to around two months, Scott detailed her travel habits, favorite destinations, and culinary highlights.
Traveling and Packing Challenges
When asked about her packing style, Scott described herself as a usually light packer, but noted the unique demands of filming on a yacht. “I’m disgraced with myself when I board the plane to go to Below Deck,” she confessed. Given the show’s format, where cast members spend nine nights at sea plus a day off, packing becomes a challenge. “I have to come on with like 12 cool outfits, which is way over my usual quota,” she admitted. Additionally, her love for reading leads her to travel with around four physical books, a practice she acknowledges may seem excessive, yet she believes it is worth it.
Memorable Moments in Barcelona and Beyond
Scott shared her excitement about filming in Barcelona, particularly the surreal experience of being near the America’s Cup events. “We were in the same marina as the teams, which was an incredible highlight for me,” she said. Observing the Swiss team preparing for their trials right across from her yacht added to the thrill of her Mediterranean adventure.
Among the various ports she visited, Scott expressed a particular fondness for Antibes in the south of France. “That’s where my yachting journey started, so it’s very nostalgic for me,” she explained. She also praised Capri in Italy, noting the exhilarating experience of ferry rides around the island and the stunning scenery.
For those heading to Antibes, Scott recommends exploring the surrounding French Riviera. “Antibes is a beautiful little town to walk around, with cobblestone streets and lovely cafes,” she said. She urged visitors to take a train to nearby Eze, a hilltop village offering breathtaking coastal views that should not be missed.
Culinary Delights and Cautionary Tales
Scott’s culinary experiences in Barcelona were marked by the region’s famous tapas. “I love the style of meals there,” she remarked, highlighting the variety of small plates, including the popular paella. However, she also warned about the potential for food poisoning due to the way some tapas are served. “I’ve had food poisoning there twice,” she noted, recalling how it affected fellow cast members, Nathan and Tessa, who had to join the season late because of it.
Looking ahead, Scott shared her travel aspirations, naming Japan, Ireland, and a return to Chile as her top destinations. “They’ve been on my list for a while,” she stated, reflecting on her past visit to Chile during her teenage years.
Scott also expressed her admiration for her fellow cast members, particularly Captain Sandy. Their relationship, she explained, is filled with humor and fun, which is often edited down for viewers. “We have a really goofy, funny, silly relationship,” she added, emphasizing the camaraderie among the cast.
New episodes of Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 are currently streaming on Tuesdays, exclusively on Hayu and on Bravo from October 2023. With Scott’s insights into her travels and experiences, fans can look forward to an exciting season filled with adventure and drama.
