Qatari Athletes Set to Excel at Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

Qatari runner Idris Abubaker has expressed strong confidence in the national team’s ability to perform exceptionally at the upcoming 3rd Asian Youth Games, scheduled to take place in Bahrain from October 22 to 31. Abubaker, who recently secured a medal in the 110m hurdles at the West Asian Athletic Championships in Lebanon, emphasized the team’s determination to achieve significant success and elevate the profile of Qatari athletics on a continental level.
Team Preparedness and Ambitions
Abubaker highlighted that all athletes on the national team possess high technical skills and a robust confidence in their abilities. The team aims to bring home the largest possible number of medals, reflecting their dominance demonstrated at the West Asian Youth Athletics Championships, where Qatar topped the medal table with 23 medals.
The 18-year-old runner noted that improving personal records is also a key goal for the team, along with qualifying for the World Youth Championships. He stated that achieving strong performances on the global stage is as vital as winning medals, marking a significant step in their athletic careers.
“We are fully confident in our abilities to meet these goals,” Abubaker remarked, acknowledging the substantial support from the Qatar Athletics Federation and the technical staff. The team is committed to making every possible effort to honor Qatari athletics.
Driving Forces Behind Success
Abubaker pointed out that the current generation of Qatari athletes possesses exceptional determination, competitive spirit, and confidence, which continue to propel their success in both field and track events. Their historic first-place finish at the West Asian Athletic Championships serves as a motivational catalyst as they approach the Asian Youth Games.
A total of 45 countries will participate in the Asian Youth Games, featuring a diversified program of sports, with athletics recognized as one of the most medal-rich disciplines. The Qatari team aims not only to excel in competition but also to pave the way toward future events, including the 2025 World Youth Championships.
With the upcoming games, the national team’s aspirations reflect a commitment to excellence and a desire to make a lasting impact in the realm of athletics.
