Tragic Motorbike Crash Claims Life on Waiheke Island

A motorbike accident on Waiheke Island has resulted in one fatality and left another individual seriously injured. The incident occurred on Ocean View Road in Oneroa just before 14:00 on October 26, 2023. Emergency services responded quickly to reports that a three-wheeled motorbike had collided with a tree.

According to a police spokesperson, “One person sadly died at the scene, while another was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.” The identity of the deceased has not yet been released as authorities work to notify next of kin.

The Serious Crash Unit has been informed and is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of their investigation, Ocean View Road near Goodwin Avenue has been closed to all traffic. Police have urged the public to avoid the area while emergency services conduct their work.
