SUNFREE Secures 2025 iF Design and IDEA Silver Awards for Innovation
On October 27, 2025, Sunfree Lighting Limited announced that it has been awarded both the 2025 iF Design Award and the IDEA Silver Award for its innovative product, the Vertical Hanging Solar Street Light. This recognition highlights Sunfree’s commitment to advancing solar-powered smart lighting solutions and reinforces its position as a leader in vertical photovoltaic module technology.
Innovative Design Addresses Key Challenges
The Vertical Hanging Solar Street Light addresses significant issues associated with traditional flat solar panels. These conventional designs often underperform in extreme environments such as islands, deserts, and areas with strong winds. For example, strong sea breezes can compromise panel supports, while environmental factors like dust and bird droppings can reduce efficiency and lifespan.
In contrast, Sunfree’s design minimizes wind resistance and dust accumulation, enhancing overall performance. This innovation not only ensures higher photoelectric conversion efficiency but also extends the service life of the product, making it particularly suitable for harsh climates. Furthermore, the light integrates a D4i smart control system, allowing for intelligent operation and maintenance tailored to the D4i standard.
The Vertical Hanging Solar Street Light features a die-cast integrated design that enhances its adaptability in demanding environments. Its compact structure and sleek aesthetic make it ideal for various applications, including outdoor public lighting, traffic monitoring, and industrial use.
Real-World Application Validates Technical Strength
Sunfree’s technical capabilities were notably demonstrated in the Abu Dhabi Zayed Cycling Track Project, completed in 2023. This project, which spans a total length of 130 km, is recognized as the world’s first to implement the D4i intelligent solar street light solution. The system operates reliably under high temperatures and during sandstorms, contributing to the local energy strategy and reducing emissions by hundreds of tons each year.
This successful deployment not only highlights the reliability of Sunfree’s products in extreme conditions but also showcases the high compatibility of its internet-based control system with local infrastructure. Such achievements reinforce the effectiveness of Sunfree’s solutions in enhancing urban environments.
As Sunfree continues to innovate, the company emphasizes its commitment to promoting technological openness by expanding D4i protocol compatibility. The company aims to deepen local collaborations to improve technical support networks while leading the green transition to support global carbon-neutral goals.
Sunfree invites global partners to collaborate in advancing sustainable lighting solutions through technological innovation, aiming to illuminate a brighter, greener future.
