NZME Boosts Financial Forecasts Amid Signs of Recovery
NZME has revised its financial forecasts upward, indicating stronger-than-expected revenue performance. The media company announced on the New Zealand Exchange (NZX) that it anticipates operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) for the fiscal year 2025 to range between $59 million and $62 million. This is an increase from its previous guidance of $57 million to $59 million.
The updated forecast reflects a midpoint that is 12% higher than the operating EBITDA of $54.2 million reported for 2024. The company, which operates notable brands such as the New Zealand Herald, Newstalk ZB, and the property site OneRoof, expressed optimism regarding its financial trajectory.
In a statement, NZME’s Chief Executive, Michael Boggs, commented, “We’re pleased to upgrade guidance as our business shows signs of recovery, despite the continuing economic challenges across the country.” He highlighted that the better-than-expected revenue performance, combined with effective cost control measures, positions the company favorably as it approaches fiscal year 2026.
The company is set to release its financial results for the year ending December 31, 2025, in February. On the market front, NZME shares closed at $1.05 on Monday. Earlier this year, the company reported an operating EBITDA of $23.9 million and an after-tax loss of $393,000 for the first half of 2025. Additionally, the board declared an interim dividend of 3 cents per share.
With the media landscape continuously evolving, NZME’s revised forecasts reflect its adaptability and potential for growth, underscoring its resilience in a challenging economic environment. As the company navigates forward, stakeholders will be closely monitoring its performance in the upcoming fiscal year.
