Silver Ferns Maintain Squad for Upcoming Northern Tour Matches
The Silver Ferns have confirmed they will maintain their 14-player squad for the upcoming Northern Tour, following a closely contested series against Australia in the Constellation Cup. The National Selection panel announced that no changes will be made to the team that drew the series 2-2 before ultimately falling in an extra-time period to decide the cup winner.
This tour will see the Silver Ferns compete in five tests across Great Britain, including two matches against Scotland and a three-match series against England. The team aims to build on their recent performances as they prepare for future international competitions.
Team Development and Future Goals
Interim head coach Yvette McCausland-Durie emphasized the significance of this tour in the team’s ongoing development. She noted that the Silver Ferns have made substantial progress over the past few months. The Northern Tour presents an opportunity to further test their growth against high-caliber opponents.
“This group has made significant progress across the past few months, and the Northern Tour gives us another opportunity to test that growth against quality opposition,” McCausland-Durie stated.
The Silver Ferns will look to leverage their recent experiences in the Constellation Cup as they face the challenges posed by their British counterparts. This tour not only serves as a platform for competitive play but also as a crucial step in the team’s preparations for upcoming international fixtures.
With a focus on development and performance, the Silver Ferns aim to emerge from the Northern Tour with valuable insights and experience that will contribute to their long-term success on the world stage. As the team gears up for their matches, fans will be eager to see how they apply their lessons learned in recent competitions against formidable opponents.
