Sophie Barker Elected Dunedin’s Second Female Mayor
Sophie Barker has been elected as the new Mayor of Dunedin, making history as only the second woman to hold this pivotal role in the city. In the recent election, Barker, an incumbent councillor, received 16,001 votes, surpassing her closest rival, Andrew Simms, by a margin of 726 votes according to preliminary results.
