La Mar Doha Celebrates Culinary Diversity with ‘Trilogy of Cultures’
DOHA: On March 15, 2024, the Michelin-recommended restaurant La Mar by Gastón Acurio at the InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa will host the exclusive event “Trilogy of Cultures.” This culinary evening aims to highlight the global influences and rich diversity of Peruvian cuisine.
For this unique occasion, three renowned chefs from the Acurio family of restaurants will collaborate to create an immersive dining experience. Guests will embark on a culinary journey through Peru’s vibrant fusion of Japanese, Chinese, and traditional Criolla flavors. The evening will feature a bespoke four-course menu that combines heritage and innovation, showcasing signature dishes reflective of each chef’s individual style and international perspective.
A Fusion of Culinary Expertise
Chef Kaoru Chang, the Executive Chef of La Mar Bellevue in Seattle, will present his interpretation of Nikkei cuisine, which blends Japanese techniques with Peruvian ingredients. With over 19 years of experience, Chef Chang has refined his skills at prestigious establishments such as the Nobu Restaurant Group and Juvia Miami Beach. His creations promise to deliver a harmonious balance of precision and artistry, drawing inspiration from his extensive culinary travels.
Chef Jesus Delgado, Corporate Executive Chef of JARANA and Tanta, will introduce the bold and comforting flavors characteristic of Chifa cuisine, which marries Chinese culinary traditions with Peruvian tastes. A native of Lima, Chef Delgado’s culinary journey began in his family’s kitchen before he pursued formal training at Le Cordon Bleu, further enhancing his culinary foundation.
Completing the trio is Chef Frank Ponce, the Executive Chef of La Mar by Gastón Acurio, La Mar Beach, and Manko Doha. Chef Ponce will highlight the essence of Peru’s culinary heritage through traditional Criolla cuisine, offering a menu that reflects the cultural significance and historical depth of Peruvian food.

The menu for the “Trilogy of Cultures” event is designed as a masterful symphony of taste and technique. Each dish tells a story, celebrating Peru’s multicultural legacy through food.
