Penn Badgley Opens Up About Marriage Struggles After Miscarriage
Penn Badgley and his wife, Domino Kirke, faced serious challenges in their marriage following two heartbreaking miscarriages. The couple, who wed in 2017, welcomed their first child in August 2020, but the emotional toll of their losses nearly led to a separation. Badgley shared these intimate details during an interview on the podcast Totally Booked with Zibby.
Heartbreak and Reflection
In the podcast, Badgley described the experience as a significant turning point in both of their lives. He reflected on the intense grief that accompanied their miscarriages, particularly as he had yet to have any biological children and Kirke had her firstborn from a previous relationship. “That was a real inflection point,” he noted, emphasizing the “gravity” of their situation.
The actor candidly expressed the strain that the miscarriages placed on their relationship. “One of the greatest of my life and my wife’s because we did near separation,” Badgley said. Despite the overwhelming challenges, he and Kirke chose to navigate through the pain together rather than succumb to it.
Finding Joy Again
Ultimately, their decision to confront the grief together has led to a more profound connection. “Of course, we didn’t give into the gravity of that and the sort of entropy of that,” he added, highlighting their resilience. The couple has since welcomed three biological children, indicating a hopeful chapter in their family life.
Badgley’s openness about his struggles serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities surrounding loss and the importance of communication within relationships. His journey, along with Kirke’s support, underscores the strength that can emerge from adversity.
