The New Zealand cricket team, known as the Black Caps, secured a decisive victory against the West Indies in the third one-day international (ODI) match held in Hamilton. Chasing a modest target of 162 runs, New Zealand overcame early setbacks to clinch the series 3-0, demonstrating resilience and teamwork.

New Zealand faced a challenging start, stumbling to 70 runs for the loss of four wickets. However, the partnership between Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell proved crucial, as they combined for a 75-run partnership off just 48 balls. Chapman played a significant role, scoring 64 runs from 63 deliveries, including two sixes. He was dismissed when the home side needed only 17 runs for victory. Bracewell finished the match unbeaten on 40 runs off 31 balls, with bowler Zak Foulkes sealing the win by striking a delivery over the wicketkeeper for two runs.

Earlier in the match, New Zealand’s bowlers excelled, dismissing the West Indies for 161 runs in the 37th over. Fast bowler Matt Henry was instrumental, taking 4 wickets for 43 runs. Foulkes also made a key contribution by capturing the vital wicket of West Indies captain Shai Hope, who had scored a century in the previous match. This time, Hope managed only 16 runs, caught by wicketkeeper Tom Latham after chasing a loose delivery down the leg side.

The West Indies appeared to be in dire straits at 95 for 7, but their lower-order batsmen rallied to add 66 runs for the last three wickets. Allrounder Roston Chase provided stability, contributing 38 runs to the total.

Looking ahead, both teams will now shift their focus to the red ball format, with the first of three Test matches set to commence in Christchurch on December 2. The Black Caps will aim to carry their ODI momentum into the Test series, while the West Indies will seek to regroup and bounce back after a challenging one-day campaign.
