Far from a routine evening, the Diamond Tour at the Longines Hathab – Qatar Equestrian Tour saw Faris Saad Al-Qahtani deliver a breathtaking performance, securing the title at 150 cm with a remarkable ride on Com du Rouet Z. His time of just 45 seconds electrified the crowd at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab, marking a highlight of the event held on December 9, 2023.

Exciting Competitions Showcase Emerging Talent

The event kicked off with the Future Riders 90-cm round, showcasing a new generation of equestrian talent. Mohammed Al Sulaiti emerged victorious, completing his round in an impressive 28.13 seconds on Mazzeltof. He narrowly defeated Salman Faisal Al Marri, who finished second on Sandor, and Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani in third place on Zion II Vdk. Qatar’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, H E Mirdif Ali Mirdif Al Qashouti, presented awards to the young winners, emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent.

The Bronze Tour at 120 cm was dominated by Khalid Al-Hadi, who claimed all three podium positions with times of 54.79, 56.07, and 57.89 seconds. In the team event, The Dome secured first place, finishing in 110.76 seconds, followed closely by Ajwad and Shahalil Al Shaqab.

Diamond Tour Finale Captivates Spectators

As the competition progressed, anticipation built for the Diamond Tour finale. Al-Qahtani’s stellar performance was followed closely by Khalid Mohammed Al-Emadi, who finished in 45.96 seconds on Thor Ter Wilgen Z, while Hamad Nasser Al-Qadi secured third place with a time of 47.46 seconds on Edison Z. The awards were presented by Mohammed Jaber Al-Khayarin, Director of Equestrian Education at Al Shaqab, who commended all riders for their remarkable displays.

In his remarks, Abdullah Al-Marri, the tournament director, noted the increasing participation levels among competitors. He stated, “The rise in participation reflects the riders’ readiness for the international championships at the end of December.” He expressed confidence that this competitive depth would prepare athletes to perform at their best, as they work towards an exceptional championship that reflects Qatar’s prominence in global equestrian sports.

The success of the evening not only highlighted individual achievements but also reinforced the importance of equestrian sports in Qatar, fostering a vibrant community of riders and enthusiasts.
