Egypt’s Trézéguet Celebrates Arab Cup Opportunity in Qatar
The Egyptian national football team is set to participate in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, with player Mahmoud ‘Trézéguet’ Hassan expressing pride in the opportunity to represent his country in this prestigious tournament. The competition, which runs from December 1 to 18, 2025, will showcase the talents of 16 teams across six world-class stadiums in Qatar, previously used during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Egypt’s Group Stage Challenges
Egypt has been drawn into Group C, alongside Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait. The Pharaohs aim to improve upon their previous performance in the 2021 Arab Cup, where they finished fourth after a narrow penalty shootout loss to the hosts, Qatar.
Hassan, known for his dynamic playing style and prolific goal-scoring capabilities, emphasized the significance of the tournament for the region. “The world witnessed Qatar’s exceptional hosting capabilities during the World Cup in 2022. It was a historic achievement not just for the country, but for the region,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of the Arab Cup in showcasing Arab football talent.
Hassan stated, “The Arab Cup is an incredible tournament. It is an honour for Egypt to play in this prestigious competition. Every match is an opportunity for the team to showcase its strength, and I am sure they are ready to give it their all and make our fans proud.” As a player for Egyptian club Al Ahly and former member of Aston Villa, his experience is invaluable to the national team.
Hassan’s Journey with the National Team
Since his debut in 2014, Hassan has made 86 appearances for Egypt, scoring a total of 22 goals. His contributions were pivotal in the team’s journey to the finals of the African Cup in 2017 and 2023. Recently, he played a crucial role in the 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, netting five goals to help secure Egypt’s spot at the tournament.
“There is no greater feeling than wearing the national team jersey, with millions of Egyptian fans cheering for you. Playing for Egypt is an honour. I look forward to every match as though it is my first,” he added, reflecting on the emotional connection he feels while representing his country.
Egypt’s campaign in the FIFA Arab Cup will commence on December 2, 2025, when they face Kuwait at the iconic Lusail Stadium at 17:30 local time. Hassan anticipates a thrilling experience, stating, “Playing in Qatar is a wonderful experience for any player. They will be playing on World Cup stadiums, which makes this tournament all the more special.” He praised the quality of Qatar’s sporting infrastructure, noting that it can significantly impact a team’s performance.
The FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 promises to be an exciting showcase of football talent and regional pride, with Egypt aiming to capture the coveted trophy and make their fans proud.
