Tournament’s Importance Highlighted by Coaches

Ilídio Vale, the Portuguese coach of Qatar’s U-23 national team, expressed the significance of the tournament for player development. “The tournament means a lot to us. Our team is developing, and our players are ready to compete with the goal of winning,” he stated during a press conference. Vale emphasized that this competition is a crucial preparatory stage leading up to next year’s Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia.

Despite some players participating with the senior national team, Vale remains optimistic. “We are motivated despite some absences. It is an important opportunity to develop our players and face strong teams,” he added.

Luigi Di Biagio, the Italian coach of Saudi Arabia’s U-23 squad, praised the organization of the tournament and its competitive level. “The tournament is tough, bringing together strong teams. It provides a vital pathway for players to progress to the first team,” he remarked, highlighting the tournament’s potential for player advancement.

Croatian coach Verdo Milin, who is leading Kuwait’s U-23 team, pointed out the challenges posed by opening matches. He emphasized the importance of scouting young talent during this competition. “Our plan is to provide a promising group for the future and discover outstanding players,” Milin noted.

Format and Expectations for the Tournament

The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups. Group A consists of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait, while Group B includes Iraq, the UAE, Oman, and Yemen. Matches are scheduled to be played at Aspire Stadiums 1 and 2, culminating in a final at the iconic Stadium 974 on December 16, 2025.
