DBS Crowned Global Bank of the Year 2025 by The Banker
DBS Bank has been awarded the title of Global Bank of the Year 2025 by The Banker, a publication under The Financial Times. This recognition, announced on December 4, 2025, marks the third time DBS has received this prestigious accolade, following previous wins in 2018 and 2021.
In addition to the main title, DBS secured several other significant awards including Asia Bank of the Year, Singapore Bank of the Year, and Investment Bank of the Year – Asia. The bank also received an inaugural award for Investment Bank of the Year for Financial Institutions Group. Its performance distinguished it among 294 participating banks, highlighting DBS’s sustained leadership and impact within the global financial sector.
Noteworthy Innovations and Strategic Leadership
This latest recognition is DBS’s ninth global ‘Best Bank’ award from a leading financial publication since it first earned this status in 2018. Currently, the bank holds two global best bank awards from both Euromoney and The Banker.
According to Silvia Pavoni, editor-in-chief at The Banker, “Some of the most exciting technological applications in banking are often found in Asia — and frequently adopted by DBS.” She highlighted the bank’s investment in artificial intelligence to combat financial scams, a growing concern in Singapore, as well as its commitment to training staff on this technology. Pavoni also noted DBS’s initiatives regarding smart contracts, which aim to facilitate quicker and more efficient cross-border payments, as significant factors in the bank’s recognition.
“At the core, we were looking for useful innovation that helps customers with their financial needs and, more broadly, with their work and day-to-day lives. DBS stood out,” Pavoni stated.
Future Aspirations and Commitment to Innovation
Tan Su Shan, CEO of DBS, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “We are honoured to be recognised as Global Bank of the Year by The Banker yet again. This prestigious award, along with our other regional and segment wins, is testament to our continued leadership and impact globally.” He emphasized the bank’s ongoing commitment to innovation and adaptation, asserting that DBS will remain “hungry, humble and nimble,” as it seeks to push boundaries and embrace new technologies.
Founded in 1926, DBS is a leading financial services group in Asia, operating in 19 markets and headquartered in Singapore. The bank’s credit ratings of AA- and Aa1 are among the highest globally. Renowned for its leadership, DBS has also been named “World’s Best Bank” by Global Finance and Euromoney, and “Global Bank of the Year” by The Banker.
DBS is at the forefront of digital banking, having received accolades such as “World’s Best Digital Bank” from Euromoney. It has also earned the title of “Safest Bank in Asia” from Global Finance for an impressive 17 consecutive years from 2009 to 2025.
The bank offers a comprehensive range of services across consumer, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), and corporate banking. Deeply rooted in Asia, DBS understands the complexities of operating in the region’s dynamic markets and is dedicated to building lasting relationships with its customers, embodying the philosophy of banking the Asian way.
Through the DBS Foundation, the bank aims to create impact beyond banking by uplifting lives and livelihoods. This includes providing essential needs to underserved communities and promoting financial and digital literacy. The foundation also supports innovative social enterprises that generate positive change.
With its extensive operations across Asia and a focus on empowering its workforce, DBS continues to offer exciting career opportunities while shaping the future of banking.
