The match showcased the talents of Milan’s Rafael Leao, who not only scored a goal but also provided an assist, playing a pivotal role in his team’s success.
Liverpool’s starting lineup featured notable players such as new signing Florian Wirtz, along with stars Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk. Milan countered with a potent attacking front, including Leao and Christian Pulisic.
Match Highlights
The action began early, as Leao found the net in the 10th minute. He executed a powerful run, evading Van Dijk before finishing past goalkeeper Alisson during a swift Milan counterattack. This early goal set the tone for an engaging match.
Midway through the first half, Liverpool equalized when Szoboszlai delivered a delicate lob over Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, leveling the score. However, Milan quickly regained the lead in the 52nd minute when Leao assisted Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who converted to make it 2-1.
As the match progressed, both teams made significant substitutions after halftime. Milan’s Alexis Saelemaekers provided crucial support, assisting substitute Noah Okafor in the 60th minute to extend the lead to 3-1.
Liverpool managed to pull one back in stoppage time with a goal from Cody Gakpo, but Milan sealed their victory shortly after. Okafor capitalized on a defensive error just one minute later, finalizing the score at 4-2.
