Melbourne Man Charged in Gruesome Double Murder of Couple
A homeless man has been charged with the double murder of a pregnant woman and her partner in Melbourne. Ross Judd, 34, faces serious allegations following the discovery of the bodies of Athena Georgopoulos, 39, and Andrew Gunn, 50, at their residence on Adrienne Crescent in Mount Waverley on September 25, 2023. The victims were found in a shocking state, with reports indicating that Gunn had been decapitated.
Witnesses claim that shortly after the alleged killings, Judd was spotted entering a local bottle shop, appearing “soaked in blood.” According to the Australian, he was seen at around 21:48 local time, wearing a dark hoodie while purchasing several drinks. His two German shepherd dogs waited outside the shop for approximately ten minutes during this time.
The police were alerted to the crime scene following a welfare check, which revealed the horrific incident. Investigators have not disclosed the motive for the murders, which has left the local community in shock.
Judd’s previous interactions with law enforcement have raised concerns, as he has a history of offenses, although specific details have not been made public. His appearance in court is anticipated to provide further clarity on the situation.
The gruesome nature of the crime has drawn significant media attention and has left many residents shaken. Community members have expressed their disbelief and sorrow over the loss of life, particularly given that Georgopoulos was pregnant at the time of her death.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murders, and they are seeking additional information from anyone who may have encountered Judd or the victims in the days leading up to the incident. Police are encouraging witnesses to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in such tragic events.
As the investigation unfolds, the focus will remain on uncovering the full story behind this tragic double murder, as well as providing support to the victims’ families during this difficult time.
