Police Boost Presence in Levin Following Three Shootings

On March 11, 2024, a man arrived at a local healthcare centre with a gunshot wound to his thigh. He was subsequently transferred to Palmerston North Hospital in serious condition. Later that same evening, at approximately 20:55, another shooting took place when a house on Hinemoa Street was targeted from a moving vehicle. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from this incident, but it has contributed to the growing concern among local residents.
In response to these events, the New Zealand Police have increased their patrols in Levin, aiming to provide reassurance to the community. Officers are urging anyone with information related to the shootings to come forward, emphasizing that cooperation is vital in ensuring public safety.
