Prophecy Distilling Wins Emerging Product Award at New Zealand Spirits Awards

Prophecy Distilling, a fledgling distillery located in Earnscleugh, has gained recognition at the New Zealand Spirits Awards, winning the prestigious Cue Marketing Emerging Product Award. This accolade highlights the company’s “innovative spirit and promising potential” within New Zealand’s competitive spirits market.
Since its launch only four months ago, Prophecy has operated from a converted shipping container. The distillery is entirely self-sufficient, handling all aspects of production in-house. Anna Ballantine, one of the four directors, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “As a young local business, we’re incredibly proud to see our hard work and our Central Otago roots recognised on a national stage.”
The Cue Marketing Emerging Product Award is aimed at celebrating new or recently launched products that demonstrate exceptional innovation, strong market potential, distinctive branding, high craftsmanship, and a connection to New Zealand’s unique identity and ingredients. Prophecy’s win positions it among some of the most exciting new distilleries shaping the future of the country’s spirits industry.
Recognition at the New Zealand Spirits Awards
The New Zealand Spirits Awards, which are now in their sixth year, celebrate excellence in both local and international spirits available in Aotearoa. This year, the competition featured 550 international entrants, with New Zealand distilleries claiming nine of the thirteen trophies awarded. These awards are judged by panels of industry experts, who assess entries and award bronze, silver, gold, and double-gold medals based on outstanding quality in each category.
The best spirits in each category receive trophies for the best New Zealand product and best overall. The recognition from these awards not only highlights the quality of spirits being produced in New Zealand but also underscores the vibrancy and innovation present in the local distillery scene.
With this recent accolade, Prophecy Distilling is positioned for growth and success in an industry that continues to evolve. As consumers increasingly seek unique and locally-sourced spirits, the distillery’s commitment to quality and local identity will likely resonate with a broad audience. The award serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team behind Prophecy, as they strive to carve out a place for themselves in New Zealand’s rich distilling tradition.
As the spirits market continues to expand, Prophecy Distilling stands as a shining example of how innovation and local roots can lead to significant recognition on a national scale.
