Prophecy Distilling Wins Award for Innovative Spirits in New Zealand

Prophecy Distilling has made a significant mark in New Zealand’s spirits industry by winning the Cue Marketing Emerging Product Award at the prestigious New Zealand Spirits Awards. This recognition highlights the distillery’s innovative spirit and promising potential, especially in a highly competitive market.
Located in Earnscleugh, Prophecy is a small distillery that has operated for only four months. The company, which works entirely in-house, has converted a shipping container into its production facility. Anna Ballantine, one of the four directors, expressed pride in the achievements of the young business, stating, “As a young local business, we’re incredibly proud to see our hard work and our Central Otago roots recognised on a national stage.”
### Celebrating Innovation in Spirits
The Cue Marketing Emerging Product Award celebrates new or recently launched products that exhibit exceptional innovation, strong market potential, distinctive branding, and high craftsmanship. Importantly, it also emphasizes a genuine connection to New Zealand’s unique identity and ingredients. Prophecy’s victory places it among the most exciting new distilleries that are shaping the future of the country’s spirits industry.
The New Zealand Spirits Awards, now in their sixth year, honor excellence in both local and international spirits available in Aotearoa. The awards feature a rigorous judging process conducted by panels of industry experts. Entries are evaluated and awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals, recognizing the outstanding quality in each category. The best spirits in each category receive trophies for the best New Zealand and best overall spirits.
This year, New Zealand distilleries excelled by claiming nine of the thirteen trophies awarded at the competition, which included 550 international entrants.
The recognition of Prophecy Distilling at such an early stage in its development reflects the growing reputation of New Zealand’s spirits industry as a source of innovative and high-quality products. With the backing of local roots and a focus on craftsmanship, Prophecy is poised to continue its ascent in the competitive landscape of distilling.
