The Crusaders have announced significant price increases for season tickets as they prepare for the 2026 Super Rugby season, with four of their seven home matches set to take place at the new One NZ Stadium in Christchurch. The announcement, made on September 18, 2025, has sparked dissatisfaction among fans, as some ticket prices have surged by as much as 40 percent.

In a recent discussion on the radio show Sports Fix with hosts D’Arcy Waldegrave and Jason Pine, Crusaders CEO Colin Mansbridge addressed the controversial price hikes. The increase comes as the team transitions to their new state-of-the-art venue, which aims to enhance the fan experience but also raises concerns about accessibility for supporters.

Mansbridge explained that the pricing adjustments are necessary to support the operational costs associated with the new stadium. “As we move into a world-class facility, we have to ensure that we can maintain the quality of experience our fans expect,” he stated. This explanation did little to quell the discontent among loyal supporters, many of whom are frustrated by the substantial financial burden.

D’Arcy Waldegrave also expressed his views on the matter during the broadcast, pointing out that major sports organizations often lack transparency with the media and fans regarding such decisions. He emphasized the need for clearer communication about the rationale behind ticket pricing, particularly in light of the economic challenges faced by many fans.

The discussion on Sports Fix also touched on the Black Ferns, New Zealand’s women’s rugby team, which has recently named its squad for the upcoming semi-final. Additionally, former world champion track athlete Fred Kerley is set to participate in the Enhanced Games next May, adding to the excitement in the sports community.

Fans are encouraged to tune into Sports Fix every weekday afternoon on iHeartRadio or through their preferred podcast platforms for ongoing updates and discussions about current events in the sports world. As the 2026 Super Rugby season approaches, it remains to be seen how the ticket price increases will impact fan attendance and engagement at the Crusaders’ new home.
