The Qatar Chamber (QC) met with H E Dana Goldfinča, the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Qatar, on October 2, 2023. The meeting, held at the Chamber’s headquarters in Doha, aimed to enhance trade and economic relations between the two nations.
Board Member Abdulrahman bin Abduljalil Al Abdulghani, along with fellow Board Members Abdullah Al Emadi and Dr Mohammed bin Johar Al Mohammed, engaged with Ambassador Goldfinča to discuss various avenues for cooperation. The conversation highlighted the need to bolster trade exchange and mutual investment opportunities, particularly focusing on the contributions of both the Qatari and Latvian private sectors.
Strengthening Economic Ties
During the meeting, Al Abdulghani noted that the current trade volume between Qatar and Latvia remains modest. He emphasized the necessity of enhancing collaboration between the two countries’ private sectors to facilitate growth in trade and investment.
Ambassador Goldfinča conveyed Latvia’s eagerness to deepen its economic ties with Qatar. She identified key sectors that present promising opportunities for Qatari investments, including information and communications technology, food security, tourism, renewable energy, healthcare, and logistics.
Goldfinča also pointed out that Latvia offers attractive investment incentives through its eight free zones, which are designed to support foreign investors. She reiterated the openness of her country to Qatari investments across various sectors, highlighting the favorable conditions for business ventures.
Building Business Connections
Furthermore, the Ambassador stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Qatar Chamber and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Strengthening these connections would facilitate better communication and foster stronger ties between the business communities of both nations.
This meeting marks a significant step towards reinforcing the economic partnership between Qatar and Latvia, paving the way for increased trade and investment opportunities that could benefit both countries in the long term.
