Qatar Chamber Enhances Trade Ties with Latvia in Key Meeting

The Qatar Chamber (QC) held a significant meeting on March 14, 2024, with H E Dana Goldfinča, the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Qatar. The meeting took place at the Chamber’s headquarters in Doha and featured discussions aimed at strengthening trade and economic relations between Qatar and Latvia.
Exploring Opportunities for Collaboration
During the meeting, the participants explored various avenues for enhancing cooperation between the private sectors of both nations. Board Member Abdulrahman bin Abduljalil Al Abdulghani, who hosted the ambassador alongside fellow Board Members Abdullah Al Emadi and Dr Mohammed bin Johar Al Mohammed, highlighted the current trade volume between Qatar and Latvia as modest. He emphasized the necessity of bolstering ties to expand trade exchanges and mutual investments.
Ambassador Goldfinča expressed Latvia’s eagerness to deepen economic cooperation with Qatar. She identified several promising sectors for Qatari investments, including information and communications technology, food security, tourism, renewable energy, healthcare, and logistics. Her remarks underscored the potential for collaboration that could benefit both countries.
Investment Opportunities and Free Zones
Goldfinča further noted that Latvia provides attractive investment opportunities through its eight free zones, which offer various incentives and facilities designed to attract foreign investors. She reassured attendees of Latvia’s openness to Qatari investments across all sectors, signaling a welcoming environment for potential business ventures.
Moreover, the ambassador stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Qatar Chamber and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This collaboration aims to facilitate communication and foster stronger connections among the business communities of both nations, paving the way for increased economic interaction.
As both countries seek to expand their economic horizons, this meeting marks a crucial step in building a robust trading partnership that leverages the strengths of both Qatar and Latvia.
