Tabula Expands into UK Market with New Managing Director Appointment
Tabula, a company based in Mosgiel, New Zealand, is making significant strides by expanding into the UK contracting market, which Chief Executive John Enlow described as a “massive opportunity.” In a strategic move to bolster its operations in the UK, Tabula has appointed Doug Price, currently leading one of the UK’s largest straw contracting businesses, AgriBale, as its managing director for the region.
This new appointment follows a successful collaboration between Tabula and AgriBale, where the company’s job management, guidance, and tracking solutions were tested under local conditions. Enlow expressed confidence that Price’s extensive experience and established relationships would play a crucial role in accelerating Tabula’s growth in the UK.
Price, who has advanced from an operator to a director and shareholder at AgriBale, currently oversees a team of nine full-time staff and up to 30 seasonal workers, including a consistent group of young New Zealanders. His leadership is expected to enhance Tabula’s presence in the UK market, which is experiencing robust demand for integrated technology solutions.
Global Growth and Technological Innovation
According to Enlow, the UK’s expansion is part of a broader trend of global growth across various sectors, including agriculture, horticulture, aviation, emergency services, and council operations. Operators in these fields are increasingly adopting integrated technology to enable safer, smarter, and more connected field operations.
Originally known as TracMap, the company rebranded to Tabula in 2023. It was founded by Colin Brown, who identified a niche market in 2005 when he acquired Thomas Electronics in South Dunedin. Brown combined his expertise as a farm consultant with the technical skills of electronic engineers and software developers to create a system that ensures accurate and traceable placement of agricultural products.
Tabula has since evolved to serve a diverse range of applications, working with more than 3,500 customers across 16 countries. The company logs over 60,000 jobs each month and maintains a dedicated team of 55 employees with operational bases in New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
As the demand for technological solutions in the field continues to rise, Tabula is poised to leverage its experience and innovative solutions to meet the needs of its expanding customer base, marking a notable milestone in its growth journey.
