Tasti Products Recalls Snacks Over Potential Metal Contamination
Tasti Products Limited has initiated a recall of several snack items, including muesli bars, peanuts, and snack balls, due to the potential presence of small wire-like metal pieces. This precautionary measure, supported by New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS), aims to prevent possible injuries to consumers.
According to Vincent Arbuckle, the deputy director-general of NZFS, the affected products have already been removed from retail shelves. He advised consumers, “If you have any at home, don’t eat them. You can return them to the place of purchase for a refund. If that’s not possible, throw them out.”
Details on Affected Products
The recall encompasses various items, including the Smooshed wholefood balls, snack logs, chopped peanuts, Frooze Balls, and nut bars. Not all batches and flavors are implicated; thus, consumers are encouraged to check the specific information on the official recall page. These products are widely available in supermarkets and retailers across New Zealand.
Recent updates indicate that no reports of injuries related to these products have been received by NZFS. Arbuckle confirmed, “As is our usual practice, NZFS will work with Tasti Products Ltd to understand how this happened and prevent its recurrence.”
International Impact and Response
Some of the recalled products have also been exported to Australia, Fiji, India, and Singapore. NZFS has informed food safety authorities in these countries about the potential risk. Arbuckle is collaborating with Tasti Products to investigate the matter further.
For consumers seeking more information, including images of the affected products, batch numbers, and flavors, NZFS has made resources available online. As the situation develops, Tasti Products and NZFS are committed to ensuring consumer safety and preventing any future occurrences of such issues.
