TÜV Rheinland and Generation India Forge Partnership for Skills Development

TÜV Rheinland has solidified its commitment to enhancing India’s industrial capabilities and workforce skills through a significant partnership. On July 23, 2025, during a visit to Bangalore, the Group CEO of TÜV Rheinland, Dr.-Ing. Michael Fübi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Generation India Foundation (GIF), a global non-profit organization. This agreement aims to bridge critical skill gaps in the country and empower underserved youth with job-ready training.
The MoU represents a strategic collaboration focused on implementing the Generation Methodology, a successful training model designed to deliver effective skilling programs across various regions in India. Initially, the partnership will target job roles such as Solar PV Installer, offering industry-led training, international certification, and improved employability for young individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
During the signing ceremony, Dr. Fübi remarked, “India is not just a growing market for us; it is a strategic destination in shaping the future of global quality, sustainability, and skills development.” He emphasized that this partnership aligns with evolving industry demands and sustainability goals, aiming to equip Indian professionals with globally recognized skills and certifications.
Project AMBER 2 and Broader Goals
The collaboration is part of Project AMBER 2 (Accelerated Mission for Better Employment and Retention), a special initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 4.0). TÜV Rheinland India will act as an Implementing Agency, providing access to training facilities, certified trainers, and laboratories to support the execution of this project across multiple training centers in India.
Not only is this partnership vital for immediate workforce development, but it also reflects a broader vision for sustainable growth. Dr. Fübi highlighted India’s increasing importance in the global quality ecosystem, stating, “As the world faces complex challenges in sustainability, technology, and global mobility, we see India as a leading contributor to the next generation of global quality and innovation.”
Strategic Importance of India
The visit included Dr. Fübi‘s participation in the TIC Council Summit in New Delhi, where he, as President of the TIC Council, leads efforts to harmonize quality and compliance standards globally. He noted, “India has emerged as a vital growth hub for TÜV Rheinland—not only for the strength of its domestic market but also for its increasing importance in the global quality ecosystem.”
TÜV Rheinland’s established presence in India encompasses key sectors such as testing, inspection, certification, and training. This recent MoU underscores the company’s strategic commitment to advancing India’s leadership in sustainable industry practices, global workforce readiness, and world-class regulatory standards.
As India’s influence in global supply chains continues to grow, TÜV Rheinland’s investments and partnerships align with national priorities, including the Skill India Mission and the pursuit of sustainability leadership. The collaboration aims to create pathways for Indian professionals to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
Founded in 1872, TÜV Rheinland operates in over 50 countries, generating annual revenues exceeding €2.7 billion and employing around 27,000 people. The organization is committed to ensuring safety and quality, particularly in emergent technologies like green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving. Its headquarters are located in Cologne, Germany, and the company has been a signatory to the UN Global Compact since 2006, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability and anti-corruption efforts.
