Upper Clutha Farmers’ Market Returns to Luggate for Summer
The Upper Clutha Farmers’ Market is set to return to Luggate, following a successful inaugural season last year. The market will run once a month from December through April, operating from 09:00 to 13:00 at the Memorial Hall. Amanda Snow, a member of the market committee, expressed hopes for strong community support during this season, similar to what was experienced previously.
The market aims to showcase local growers and producers from the Upper Clutha basin, while limiting the presence of third-party sellers. This approach supports the local economy and fosters a sense of community among residents. Snow noted, “We received really good community support last time we held the markets, so it would be good to receive something of a similar nature.”
Market Features and Offerings
Visitors to the Upper Clutha Farmers’ Market can expect a diverse array of products. The market will feature seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, eggs, locally sourced cheese, butchery items, fish, and flowers. Additionally, attendees can enjoy a selection of brunch foods that highlight the region’s culinary offerings.
The committee, comprised of local volunteers, has worked diligently to expand the market in anticipation of increased attendance. With a focus on quality and community engagement, the market is poised to become a vibrant hub for locals and visitors alike.
Community Engagement and Support
Community members are encouraged to participate and support local vendors. The market represents an opportunity for residents to connect with each other and with local businesses. As Snow emphasized, the success of the market heavily relies on community involvement.
The Upper Clutha Farmers’ Market not only serves as a platform for local producers but also reinforces the community’s commitment to sustainability and supporting local agriculture. As the summer season approaches, excitement is building for what promises to be another successful market series in Luggate.
