Hilary Barry Introduces Cousin Alex Walls as Co-Host of Love It or List It NZ

Hilary Barry has announced that her cousin, Alex Walls, will be the new co-host of the New Zealand version of the popular home design show, Love It or List It. Walls, a renowned interior designer and winner of The Block NZ in 2014, will join real estate agent and actor Paul Glover as co-host.
In a heartfelt Facebook post on October 12, 2023, Barry, who also co-hosts the television program Seven Sharp, shared her excitement about working with family. “I don’t smother most of my interviewees like this but then most of the people I interview are not family,” she wrote. Barry introduced Walls as “designer extraordinaire” and noted her role as the new Kirsty in the show’s New Zealand adaptation.
Accompanying the post were five photos, showing moments of affection between the cousins. These images included them embracing with bright smiles, a tender kiss on the cheek, and a nostalgic snapshot from their childhood. The post quickly resonated with viewers, garnering over 3,700 reactions within hours.
Barry’s announcement reflects not only her personal connection to Walls but also highlights the growing trend of familial ties in reality television. As Love It or List It continues to gain popularity in New Zealand, the dynamic between the two hosts promises to bring a unique perspective to home design and renovation discussions.
Walls’ experience from The Block NZ positions her well for this new role. Her victory on the competitive reality show showcased her design skills and ability to work under pressure, qualities that will be essential as she navigates the challenges presented by homeowners looking to either renovate or sell their properties.
Fans of the show can anticipate a mix of professional insight and personal camaraderie as Barry and Walls embark on this new venture together. The combination of Barry’s seasoned television presence and Walls’ design expertise is expected to create a captivating viewing experience.
As the premiere date approaches, viewers are eager to see how the cousins will blend their family bond with their professional roles, offering a fresh take on the beloved format of Love It or List It.
