Matilda Green Embraces Dream Radio Role with Family Support

When Matilda Green accepted the opportunity to co-host the radio show The Hits alongside Matty McLean, she knew it was a dream role. The decision, however, was not without its challenges. With three young children at home—Milo, 5; Autumn, 4; and 18-month-old Penelope—balancing a full-time job in radio with family life would require careful planning.
Matilda’s husband, Art Green, a familiar face from The Bachelor NZ ten years ago, has stepped into a supportive role as a stay-at-home dad. This arrangement allows Matilda to seize her career opportunity while ensuring their children are well cared for. “It’s very tricky with a young family because the show is from 15:00 to 19:00, which is peak-parenting time,” Matilda explains. “I really wanted to do it, but it affects Art and our family a lot.”
The couple held several discussions before arriving at the decision that Art would take on the full-time parenting responsibilities for the foreseeable future. “We just decided we would muddle through for six months,” she added, expressing gratitude for Art’s willingness to support her ambitions.
As Matilda embarks on this new chapter, she acknowledges the challenges that come with juggling family commitments and a demanding work schedule. She remains optimistic about the potential rewards of her new role. The opportunity not only aligns with her career aspirations but also provides her with a platform to connect with a wider audience.
In sharing their journey, Matilda and Art hope to inspire others navigating similar challenges. The couple’s commitment to support each other speaks volumes about their partnership and dedication to family life. As Matilda steps into her role at The Hits, she looks forward to the excitement and growth that lie ahead.
