Rebekah Randell Returns to Acting After Welcoming Daughter Isla

Actress Rebekah Randell, known for her role on the long-running soap opera Shortland Street, is making a return to acting following the birth of her daughter, Isla. After taking a year off to embrace motherhood, Randell is excited to step back into the spotlight, beginning with a role in The Brokenwood Mysteries.
Randell expressed her joy at rejoining the acting world, particularly with her impending return to Shortland Street, where she portrays fan-favorite character Dawn Robinson. “I’m so pleased I can finally let the cat out of the bag,” she shared during a recent interview with Woman’s Day at her home in Auckland. “It’s so exciting, but I haven’t been able to share the secret.”
The actress has spent the past year enjoying life at home with her husband, Bevan Randell, and their 1-year-old daughter, Isla. The transition back to her acting career has been smooth, as she described the feeling of returning to the set of Shortland Street as akin to coming home. “I read the first paragraph and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, she’s exactly the same!’” Randell recalled. “I just know this character so well that it felt like I was catching up with old friends.”
With nearly two years since she last appeared on the popular show, Randell’s return is highly anticipated by fans. The actress has expressed her eagerness to reconnect with both the cast and the audience in this new chapter of her career.
As she embarks on this journey, Randell remains grateful for the time she spent with her daughter. “Being a mother is the most rewarding thing,” she stated, reflecting on her experience away from the screen. Now, with her family settled and Isla growing, Randell is ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities in her profession.
Randell’s return is expected to bring fresh storylines and excitement to Shortland Street, a show that has captured the hearts of viewers for decades. As she balances her roles as a mother and actress, fans can look forward to her upcoming performances and the joy she brings back to the screen.
