Bream Bay Artists Launch Fundraising Exhibition on November 2

A new exhibition titled Beautiful Bream Bay is set to open on November 2 at the Art Cottage in Ruakaka, showcasing the artistic talents inspired by the stunning coastal landscape of Bream Bay. Organized by the Bream Bay Combined Arts Group, this event marks the second fundraising exhibition held by the group this year.
The exhibition will feature a diverse array of artistic media, including oil, acrylic, and watercolour paintings, along with original photography and felting wall art. Attendees can also expect to see a remarkable selection of pottery, crafted using the group’s newly-installed kiln, which has been funded by a grant from the Whangarei District Council’s Communities Fund and previous fundraising efforts.
The pottery segment will be highlighted by the works of potters Vicki Bennett and Anne Coutts, who have played a significant role in enhancing the group’s offerings. The kiln has enabled the production of a variety of items, from delicate functional pieces to bold garden sculptures. Proceeds from the exhibition will assist in covering the final costs associated with the kiln’s installation.
The Bream Bay Combined Arts Group, which was established six years ago, has grown from a modest group of eight members to over 40 active participants. The group provides a supportive environment that encourages artistic exploration and collaboration, offering various studio times and peer mentorship for all members. New artists are always welcome to join and contribute to the vibrant community.
The exhibition promises to be an exciting showcase of local talent and creativity, reflecting the beauty of Bream Bay through the eyes of its artists. With a commitment to supporting both local arts and community development, this event stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of collaboration in the region.
Visitors can look forward to viewing and purchasing unique artworks that capture the essence of Bream Bay’s natural charm.
