The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort in Doha, Qatar, has appointed two acclaimed culinary leaders to enhance its dining offerings. Philippe Bossert takes the helm as Executive Chef, while Kimberly Pummer steps in as Pastry Chef. Philippe Bossert: A Culinary Luminary
Philippe Bossert brings a wealth of experience as a Maitre Cuisinier de France with a career spanning over three decades. His culinary journey began at age 16, with a formative internship at the renowned Auberge de l’Ill under the Haeberlin brothers. This early exposure laid the foundation for his passion for quality ingredients and authentic flavors.
Throughout his distinguished career, Chef Bossert has worked alongside culinary giants such as Alain Ducasse and Yannick Alléno. His professional path has taken him across continents, including stints in France, Russia, and the Indian Ocean, showcasing his adaptability and mastery of global cuisines. He has even catered to notable figures, including Boris Becker and President Vladimir Putin.
Chef Bossert’s vision at The Chedi Katara is to merge his Alsatian culinary roots with the local flavors and ingredients of Qatar. His ambition is to create dishes that not only celebrate quality and craftsmanship but also resonate with the cultural character of the region.
Kimberly Pummer: A Rising Star in Pastry
Joining Chef Bossert is Kimberly Pummer, who assumes the role of Pastry Chef. Known for her precision and creativity, Pummer’s culinary journey began with an apprenticeship at Kaefer Berlin, where she honed her skills in chocolate artistry and grand buffets. Her experience includes a significant position at Orania.Berlin and most recently at Fauchon Paris Restaurant in The St. Regis Doha.
Pummer’s impressive background combines classic techniques with modern innovations, making her a valuable addition to the culinary team. Her ability to perform under pressure has been well demonstrated in high-stakes environments, ensuring that guests at The Chedi Katara will enjoy expertly crafted desserts and pastries.
