Gala Fashion Fundraiser to Support Young Girls’ Confidence
A gala fashion fundraiser in Matakana aims to empower young girls by promoting confidence and resilience. The event, titled Rotary on the Runway 2025, will take place on October 16, 2025, at The Stables Restaurant & Bar. This annual fashion show, organized by Rotary Warkworth, supports the Women’s Centre Rodney and features models of various shapes, sizes, genders, and ages showcasing new-season clothes from local stores.
Event convenor Cindy Bakewell expressed enthusiasm for this year’s show, highlighting that approximately 20 models will participate, representing a diverse range of backgrounds. “We had 16 women volunteer to be models because they had so much fun last year,” Bakewell said. She emphasized the lively atmosphere created by a specially curated playlist from DJ and actor Rob Mokaraka, which will replace traditional commentary during the show.
The evening promises a blend of style, community spirit, and impactful fundraising. Guests can expect a lively fashion show complemented by a live auction, silent auctions, and raffles. Ticket prices include a glass of Champagne and canapés upon arrival. Highlights from the auction include exclusive travel experiences, such as a luxury evening hike and dinner for two in Queenstown, valued at $1,200, and a night for two at the Park Hyatt Auckland with a marina view and breakfast. Additionally, attendees can bid on two bottles of Kumeu River wine signed by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
Proceeds from the event will directly support the Rodney Women’s Centre’s WOW – Worth It! teen program. This initiative focuses on girls aged 12 to 15, aiming to foster self-worth and resilience among participants.
Rotary on the Runway is set to begin at 17:30 and conclude around 19:30. Tickets are priced at $50 and can be purchased via the event’s website or through direct deposit to the Rotary Charitable Trust. Those interested in attending are encouraged to contact Cindy Bakewell for tickets or further information at [email protected] or by calling 021 0247 0005. Limited tickets will be available at the door, so pre-arrangement is advised.
This event not only promises an enjoyable evening but also plays a crucial role in supporting the development of young women in the community.
