Hamad Al-Hammadi Elected President of Qatar Table Tennis Association
Hamad Ahmed Al-Hammadi has been elected President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) for the 2025-2028 term by acclamation, marking a significant transition for the organization. This decision was made during the General Assembly meeting, which was chaired by outgoing President Khalil Al-Mohannadi, after a quorum was established.
The assembly saw participation from General Assembly members, club representatives, and officials from the Qatar Olympic Committee. In recognition of his extensive contributions, Khalil Al-Mohannadi was unanimously appointed honorary president of the QTTA, a testament to his three decades of dedicated service.
Leadership Changes and New Directions
As part of the new leadership team, Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi was elected Secretary General, while Jaber Saeed Afifa, Mohammed Hassan Al-Rumaihi, and Abdullah Bader Al-Sada joined the Board of Directors, all by acclamation. This change in leadership is expected to usher in a new chapter for the federation.
Khalil Al-Mohannadi concluded his tenure as one of the longest-serving leaders in Qatari sports, having transformed the QTTA into a globally recognized entity since the early 1990s. Under his guidance, Doha regularly hosted prestigious events, including World Championships and various regional tournaments, solidifying Qatar’s status as a hub for international table tennis.
Reflecting on his career during the assembly, Al-Mohannadi stated, “These years were not merely administrative work, but a journey to build a Qatari sporting legacy that we all take pride in. Every medal, every achievement was thanks to the dedication of boards, coaches, players, and administrators. My message to the new board, led by my dear brother Hamad Al-Hammadi, is that you are the best to carry the torch and take table tennis to new heights.”
Future Focus and Goals
Taking the helm, Hamad Al-Hammadi described his election as both a historic trust and a dual responsibility to uphold the federation’s legacy. He emphasized his commitment to continuing the pursuit of global success while prioritizing youth development and identifying promising Qatari talents. “We will continue the path of global successes while focusing on youth development and discovering promising Qatari talents,” he said. He added that the board would pursue “continuity with renewal” to enhance Doha’s position as a capital of global table tennis.
Secretary General Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi reiterated the importance of building on past achievements. “Our focus will be on supporting clubs, developing local competitions, and providing the best possible support for our national teams. This is a continuation of the dedication and excellence established by my father, Khalil Al-Mohannadi,” he stated.
The General Assembly also ratified the minutes from the previous meeting, reviewed the 2024-2025 Board report, discussed future participation plans, and approved the draft budget for 2026. The new leadership reflects Qatar’s ongoing commitment to institutional maturity, innovation, and the sustained international prominence of table tennis in the region.
