Khalid Al-Eid Dominates Diamond Tour, Claims Top Honors in Qatar
In a remarkable display of skill and precision, Saudi rider Khalid Al-Eid achieved a stunning double podium at the Diamond Tour, part of the second round of the Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour held on October 7, 2023, at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s indoor arena in Doha. Al-Eid captured first place with a time of 61.04 seconds aboard his horse Q-Layen and secured third place riding Rakker DMC in 63.01 seconds.
Brazilian rider Santiago Lambre finished second in a tightly contested event, clocking 58 seconds on DB GI Diakitos. The competition featured only three riders, highlighting the high caliber of the participants.
Exciting Action in the Silver Tour
In the Silver Tour, Saeed Hamad Juma displayed exceptional speed, winning with a time of 26.49 seconds on his horse Diesel. Hamad Nasser Al-Qadi secured second place, finishing in 26.93 seconds on Deep Water, while Salman Mohammed Al-Emadi took third place with a time of 27.77 seconds riding Toblerone.
The Future Riders class, set at 90cm, saw Fahad Talal Al-Naimi rise to the top, completing his round in 54.14 seconds on Kroaat Van Orchid’s—just 0.14 seconds short of the ideal time. Greek competitor Melina Karagiannidi followed closely in second, finishing in 56.28 seconds on Tullibards Simply Cool, with Khalifa bin Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani securing third in 56.31 seconds on Zion II VDK.
Looking Ahead to Future Competitions
Championship Director Abdullah Al-Marri praised the outstanding performances across the first two rounds of competition, noting the intensity and competitiveness in both show jumping and dressage. He emphasized the consistency shown by riders, attributing their success to rigorous preparation and commitment, which sets a promising stage for future competitions on the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s calendar.
Al-Marri expressed optimism regarding the future of Qatari equestrian sports, highlighting the importance of continued dedication as the nation faces upcoming regional and international challenges. He voiced confidence that Qatari riders will represent their country with pride and achieve results that reflect the advancement of equestrianism in Qatar.
The ninth edition of the prestigious Longines Hathab series is organized by the Qatar Equestrian Federation in partnership with Al Shaqab, a member of the Qatar Foundation, further enhancing the profile of equestrian sports in the region.
