Qatar Engages Bahrain in Friendly Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

The Qatar National Football Team is set to face Bahrain tomorrow at Al Thumama Stadium in a friendly match, marking an important step in their preparations for the fourth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
This encounter represents Qatar’s first fixture during the September international break. Following the match against Bahrain, the team will play another friendly against Russia on September 7 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
Building Towards the Qualifiers
These friendlies are crucial for Qatar as they assess their readiness for the upcoming qualifiers. The matches serve as a platform for head coach Julen Lopetegui to evaluate the team’s technical and tactical capabilities before the critical qualifying stage. A 26-player squad has been assembled for training and these two friendly matches.
Qatar has been drawn to lead Group A in the upcoming qualifiers, which will take place in Doha from October 8 to 11. The group also includes teams from the UAE and Oman.
The national team will kick off their qualifying journey by facing Oman on October 8, followed by a match against the UAE on October 14. The match between Oman and the UAE will occur on October 11.
