Qatar Olympic Committee Celebrates Universal Access to Information Day
The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) observed the International Day for Universal Access to Information on September 28, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to transparency and the free flow of information. This annual event serves as a reminder of the importance of accessible information for all sectors of society, reinforcing QOC’s role as a leader in good governance and knowledge management.
QOC’s Commitment to Transparency
By celebrating this day, QOC demonstrates its dedication to fostering a culture of digital protection among its employees and partners. The organization has implemented various initiatives aimed at promoting information sharing, which is crucial for institutional integrity and public trust.
In recent years, QOC has strengthened its knowledge management systems in line with the international ISO 30401 standard. This includes the adoption of effective digital archiving and document management policies, as well as specialized training programs focused on cybersecurity. These measures contribute to a responsible and sustainable work environment, ensuring that information is both accessible and secure.
QOC places significant importance on transparency, regularly issuing reports on its strategies and sustainability efforts. By making key data about its activities and projects available through official channels, QOC provides stakeholders and the public with direct access to information regarding its achievements and ongoing initiatives.
Building a Culture of Openness
During the event, Eng. Fahad Ebrahim Al-Muhana, Director of Strategy and Sustainability at QOC, remarked, “Our celebration of the International Day for Universal Access to Information reflects QOC’s commitment to transparency and integrity, while empowering our national workforce with the tools of modern knowledge. We believe that reliable information is the foundation of sustainable development and strengthens institutional decision-making that serves both sport and society.”
This celebration aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which aims to foster human, social, and institutional development. QOC’s efforts highlight its strategic direction toward building an administrative culture centered on openness, transparency, and inclusivity.
In a noteworthy achievement, QOC received international certification for its Knowledge Management System under the ISO 30401 standard this year, becoming the first institution in Qatar and the first sports organization in the Middle East to attain this recognition. This milestone further solidifies QOC’s commitment to excellence in governance and information management.
As QOC continues to lead by example, its initiatives not only enhance organizational performance but also contribute significantly to the broader goals of societal development and transparency in Qatar.
