Qatar’s Athletics Team Shines with Four Medals in Tunisia

Qatar’s athletics team demonstrated impressive performance on March 5, 2024, at the 11th Arab U-18 Athletics Championship held in Tunis, Tunisia. The team secured four additional medals, comprising one gold, two silver, and one bronze, bringing their total medal count to five with one day of competition remaining.
Outstanding Individual Performances
Leading the way for Qatar was Younis Al Balushi, who clinched the gold medal in the pole vault event. His teammate Abdullah Al Abdullah showcased a strong performance as well, earning a silver medal in the same event. In the 100-meter sprint, Timo Jumaa finished with a time of 10.76 seconds, securing another silver medal for the team.
Saleh Mahmoud contributed to the medal tally by winning a bronze medal in the discus throw, adding to his earlier achievement of gold in the shot put. His success reflects the growing talent among Qatari athletes on the international stage.
Team Composition and Championship Context
The Qatari contingent also includes Abdulrazzaq Idris and Abkar Idris, who are competing in the 400-meter hurdles, along with Mubarak Saeed, who is participating in the 1500-meter race. The Arab U-18 Athletics Championship features rising athletes from up to 15 countries, providing a platform for young talent to showcase their skills.
