Qatar’s Idris Abubaker Aims for Athletic Glory at Youth Games
Qatari runner Idris Abubaker has expressed confidence in the national team’s ability to excel at the upcoming 3rd Asian Youth Games, scheduled to take place in Bahrain from October 22 to 31. Abubaker, who recently earned a medal in the 110m hurdles at the West Asian Athletic Championships in Lebanon, emphasized the team’s determination to bring home a significant number of medals for Qatar.
The 18-year-old athlete highlighted that the national team is not only focused on securing medals but also on achieving personal bests and qualifying for the World Youth Championships. He noted that performing well on an international stage holds equal importance to the athletes as winning medals, showcasing the depth of their ambition.
Qatar’s Strong Showing in Regional Competitions
Abubaker’s confidence stems from the national team’s recent successes. Qatar dominated the West Asian Youth Athletics Championships, finishing first with a total of 23 medals. This achievement has set a high standard, motivating the athletes to replicate their success at the Asian Youth Games.
The runner praised his teammates, stating that they all possess exceptional technical skills and a robust sense of self-assurance. He emphasized that the support from the Qatar Athletics Federation and the coaching staff plays a crucial role in their preparation, reinforcing their resolve to honor Qatari athletics.
