Qatar’s U-21 3×3 Basketball Teams Kick Off European Campaign

Qatar’s under-21 men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams are set to commence their participation in the fourth leg of the U-21 European Nations League for Youth in Debrecen, Hungary, starting today. Competing teams from across Europe include national squads from France, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, and Romania, alongside Qatar.

Leading the Qatari delegation is Yassin Ismail, Director of National 3×3 Basketball Teams, supported by Coach Marco. The men’s team is positioned in Group 2, where they will face Romania and the Czech Republic today. Their first match is scheduled against Romania, followed by a clash with the Czech Republic later in the day.

The men’s squad comprises players Mohamed Hashem, Sultan Abu Issa, Bassam Hajar, and Issa Al-Attar. Meanwhile, the women’s team is also drawn in Group 2, set to compete against Ukraine and France. Their tournament begins today with a match against Ukraine, followed by a matchup against France.

The women’s lineup features Sarah Al-Maadheed, Dima Al-Jassim, Dana Suleiman, and Fatima Jamal Abdullah. As the tournament progresses, Qatar’s men’s team currently ranks second overall with 648.881 points, trailing behind France, which leads with 1,002.620 points.

Current Standings and Team Progress

The Czech Republic is positioned third with 536.950 points, followed closely by Ukraine in fourth with 510.606 points, Hungary in fifth with 427.345 points, and Romania in sixth with 408.897 points. Qatar’s men’s team has shown consistent improvement throughout the previous legs of the tournament, finishing sixth in the opener, fifth in the second leg, and achieving a commendable second-place finish in the third leg, which earned them 175 points.

On the women’s side, Qatar’s team ranks sixth with 95.794 points. The current standings show the Czech Republic leading the women’s rankings with 343.467 points, followed by Ukraine at 332.157 points, and France in third with 316.872 points. Hungary and Romania follow, holding fourth and fifth places with 202.482 points and 159.865 points, respectively. The women’s team has accumulated a total of 45 points from their participation in the earlier legs of the competition.
