Regional Drivers Excel at MENA Karting Championship in Qatar
Doha, Qatar: The second day of the MENA Karting Championship Nations Cup 2025, organized by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), showcased exceptional talent at the Lusail Karting Circuit. The event attracted 173 drivers from 18 nations, featuring a range of races across multiple age categories, highlighting the diverse skill set of competitors from the Middle East and North Africa.
Fans enjoyed free access to an array of six karting categories, along with a lively Fan Zone that provided engaging activities throughout the day. The excitement built through a series of qualifying sessions, followed by three Heats for each category, allowing drivers to gauge the track conditions and plan their strategies for the finals.
Highlights from Day Two
The qualifying rounds began with the Micro Max category for drivers aged 8 to 11 years. Isaac El Haouti from Morocco set the pace with a qualifying time of 53.627 seconds. He was closely followed by Alex Moghabghab from Lebanon and Ayden Ouaich from Morocco, who clocked 53.872 seconds and 54.028 seconds, respectively.
In the first Heat, El Haouti maintained his lead with a time of 8 minutes 01.385 seconds. Moghabghab and Abdulaziz Al Sarraf from Kuwait completed the top three in this heat, finishing in 8 minutes 02.987 seconds and 8 minutes 03.039 seconds, respectively. El Haouti continued his dominance in the second Heat, clocking 8 minutes 01.386 seconds while Al Sarraf and Ouaich followed. The third Heat saw Moghabghab take the lead with a time of 8 minutes 0.971 seconds.
In the Mini Max category, Atiqa Mir from the UAE excelled, securing the top qualifying time of 50.868 seconds. She maintained her lead throughout the Heats, finishing with times of 8 minutes 30.232 seconds, 8 minutes 28.798 seconds, and 8 minutes 29.752 seconds in each of the three heats, respectively.
Driver Performances and Key Results
The Junior Max qualifying session saw Roslan Sryer from Algeria clock in at 48.255 seconds, followed closely by UAE’s Faris Haroun and Nathan Kappen. Sryer took the lead in Heat 2 with a time of 8 minutes 56.037 seconds, while Kappen secured victory in Heat 3.
In the senior categories, Anis Tazi from Morocco led the Senior Max qualifying with 48.039 seconds. Tazi continued to perform strongly, finishing first in the first two heats. However, KSA’s Laith Mouminah took the lead in Heat 3 with a time of 8 minutes 59.160 seconds.
In the DD2 and DD2 Masters categories, Lebanon’s Edwin Khneisser achieved the fastest qualifying time of 47.703 seconds. He dominated the first two heats before Taha Hassiba from Qatar led in Heat 3.
The day concluded with the R390 Elite endurance race, where UAE Team 1 finished first with a time of 2 hours 31.779 seconds, followed by Morocco Team 2 and Oman Team 2.
As the championship progresses, drivers look forward to further challenges and the opportunity to showcase their skills on an international platform. The event continues to emphasize the growing popularity of karting in the region and the emerging talent among young drivers.
