Head coach Ilídio Vale, who leads Qatar’s U-23 national team, underscored the tournament’s significance in preparing his squad for greater challenges. “The tournament means a lot to us. Vale noted that this competition serves as a crucial preparatory stage for next year’s Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia.

Italian coach Luigi Di Biagio, who is at the helm of Saudi Arabia’s U-23 team, echoed similar sentiments about the tournament’s role in player development. “The tournament is tough, bringing together strong teams. It provides a vital pathway for players to progress to the first team,” he remarked, reflecting on the level of competition present.

Focus on Scouting and Talent Development

Verdo Milin, the Croatian coach of Kuwait’s U-23 squad, spoke about the challenges that come with opening matches. He emphasized the importance of scouting young talent and developing a promising group for the future. “Our plan is to provide a promising group for the future and discover outstanding players,” Milin noted, indicating the long-term vision that coaches have for their teams.

The tournament features two groups: Group A consists of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait, while Group B includes Iraq, the UAE, Oman, and Yemen. Matches will take place at Aspire Stadiums 1 and 2, culminating in a final to be held at the iconic Stadium 974 on December 16, 2025. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion.
