Bo Burns Seeks Re-election to Strengthen Howick Community
Bo Burns is campaigning for a re-election to the Howick Local Board and a position on the Auckland Council representing the Howick ward. Born and raised in east Auckland, Burns has deep ties to the community, which she proudly calls home. A mother, wife, and business owner, she has dedicated six years to the Howick Local Board, including the past three years as deputy chair.
Burns has a long history of involvement in local sports and community groups, shaping her into a leader who prioritises community service and entrepreneurship. Notably, she has been instrumental in organising significant events like the Howick Santa Parade. Her upbringing fostered strong values that underpin her commitment to serving the community, making her a determined, results-driven candidate.
Track Record of Achievement
Burns has demonstrated her ability to deliver results. When Times Media faced liquidation, she stepped in to save and transform the entity into a successful media outlet, achieving record readership and engagement. Her approach combines traditional business practices with modern innovation, allowing her to create effective outcomes for her community.
As a business owner for over 23 years, Burns brings essential skills in sales, marketing, communication, education, and relationship building to the council. She understands the complexities of profit and loss, a perspective she believes is crucial for effective council operations. Burns asserts that local government functions similarly to a business, and her experience equips her to make sound financial decisions and implement visionary strategies.
Commitment to Community Needs
Burns aims to be a strong voice for east Auckland, advocating for initiatives that minimise rate increases by exploring alternative fiscal solutions. Her campaign focuses on addressing crime concerns, improving transport reliability, and ensuring equitable funding for local infrastructure. She is also dedicated to supporting tourism, local businesses, youth, and the elderly.
A firm opponent of fortnightly rubbish collections, Burns is passionate about rejecting housing intensification plans that may negatively impact the Howick ward. She plans to continue her fight against PC78, advocating for a reset towards sensible, community-focused planning.
Voting for Bo Burns represents a commitment to integrity, accountability, and a leader who consistently fights for the best interests of the community. With her energy and common sense, Burns seeks to ensure that the voice of east Auckland is heard and valued.
