The Hindu Women Forum, part of the Hindu Council of New Zealand, is set to host the first-ever New Zealand Hindu Women Conference on September 20, 2025. This significant event will take place at the High Commission of India Auditorium Hall in Wellington. Running from 09:00 to 17:30, the conference aims to empower Hindu women by celebrating their achievements and addressing challenges they face in society.

With the theme “Promoting Women – Strengthening Communities,” the conference will create opportunities for Hindu women to enhance their roles within families and the broader community. The program includes keynote addresses from both national and international speakers, panel discussions focused on leadership and decision-making, and cultural performances. Participants will also recognize the outstanding contributions made by Hindu women in various fields.

Plenary sessions are scheduled to explore key topics such as collaborations with government agencies, the role of women in public leadership, and Hindu women’s engagement in academia and media. The day will commence with both Māori and Hindu prayers, followed by an inaugural session featuring distinguished guests, including Her Excellency Neeta Bhushan, the High Commissioner of India to New Zealand.

Invitations have been extended to representatives from several government departments, such as the Ministry for Women, Ministry for Ethnic Communities, Ministry of Social Development, and the New Zealand Police. The conference welcomes women of all ages, community leaders, professionals, students, and men who are supportive of women’s leadership initiatives.

Registration for the conference is priced at $25, with free entry available for up to 20 university students. According to Vijeshni Rattan, President of the Hindu Council (Wellington Chapter), “This conference marks a milestone in empowering Hindu women in New Zealand.”

The inaugural New Zealand Hindu Women Conference promises to be a landmark event, fostering discussions that aim to strengthen the role of Hindu women in various sectors and contribute to the nation’s future.
