Students Strut Their Stuff in Dunedin Fashion Fundraiser

Students from John McGlashan College will showcase local fashion designers at their upcoming arts fundraiser, Fashion @ McGlashan, on March 14, 2024. The event aims to raise funds for the college’s arts programs and facilities, featuring boys walking the runway alongside models dressed in apparel from Dunedin boutiques and designers, including Plume, Charmaine Reveley, and Repertoire.
Students Embrace the Spotlight
Year 13 student Ben Eckhoff expressed his excitement about participating in the fashion show. With prior experience performing on stage during Theatrefest, he feels comfortable walking the runway. “It’s the same thing really. You’re acting down a runway except just in different costumes,” he remarked, highlighting the similarities between stage performance and modeling.
While he may not consider himself a fashion expert, Eckhoff mentioned that he enjoys dressing well. His typical outfit consists of baggy jeans, a hoodie, and his favorite hat. He noted that he has been enjoying the process of learning how to walk down the runway, finding it rewarding to contribute to the arts after participating in various school productions.
Supporting the Arts
The funds raised from Fashion @ McGlashan will directly benefit the college’s arts programs, which are essential for nurturing students’ creativity and talent. The event is scheduled to take place in the school’s chapel at 18:30 on Thursday. Attendees can expect an entertaining showcase of local designs while supporting a good cause.
With a commitment to fostering artistic expression, John McGlashan College continues to engage its students in meaningful activities that contribute to the community. The fashion show represents an opportunity for students to shine and for local designers to gain visibility in Dunedin.
