The Dunedin Area Citizens Association Inc is set to hold a series of election forums aimed at fostering community engagement and discussion on pressing local issues. These forums will take place at various venues across the Dunedin area from September 2 to September 4, 2023, providing residents with an opportunity to voice their opinions and hear directly from candidates.

The first meeting will occur on September 2 at Pioneer Hall in Port Chalmers, from 19:00 to 21:00. Following this, community members can attend the forum at Macandrew Bay Community Hall on September 3, and then at the Kaikorai Valley Bowling Club on September 4. The final forum will be hosted at the North East Valley Normal School the same evening.

These gatherings are designed to encourage active participation in the electoral process, allowing citizens to engage with candidates on key issues affecting their communities. As the election approaches, the forums provide a platform for dialogue and debate, crucial for an informed electorate.

The Star, a local publication, will feature election forums weekly to keep the community updated. Residents interested in listing additional election forums can reach out to Brenda Harwood at [email protected]. This initiative reflects a commitment to transparency and civic engagement, vital for the health of local democracy.

As the dates approach, community members are encouraged to attend and participate in these discussions, ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the future of the Dunedin area.
