Sixteen players from the All Blacks Rugby Championship squad are set to compete for their provincial teams this weekend in the fifth round of the National Provincial Championship (NPC). The matches will feature numerous notable players returning to their respective unions, strengthening the competition across New Zealand.

The action begins on Friday night when North Harbour takes on Bay of Plenty. Bay of Plenty will see the return of backs Emoni Narawa and Leroy Carter, along with prop Tevita Mafileo, enhancing their lineup significantly.

On Saturday afternoon, Brodie McAlister will don the Canterbury jersey as they host Manawatū. Meanwhile, Josh Lord is set to play for Taranaki in their matchup against Counties Manukau in Pukekohe.

In the same round, Tasman will welcome back Timoci Tavatavanawai while Otago will have George Bower available for their Saturday night clash in Nelson. The presence of these All Blacks stars is expected to heighten the excitement and competitiveness of these fixtures.

Sunday will showcase a thrilling encounter as Wellington hosts Auckland. Four All Blacks members will join Wellington, including backs Kyle Preston and Ruben Love along with forwards Peter Lakai and Asafo Aumua. Auckland will also benefit from the return of Caleb Clarke, who is recovering from a high ankle injury, adding further intrigue to this match at Porirua Park.

The defending Ranfurly Shield holders, Waikato, will feature Anton Lienert-Brown, Luke Jacobson, Samipeni Finau, and Ollie Norris in their Shield defense against Southland on Sunday evening. This match will be critical as Waikato seeks to maintain their title.

Looking ahead, the All Blacks will face the Springboks in Auckland on September 6. This match is significant, as it not only marks a crucial clash but also threatens New Zealand’s remarkable streak of 50 matches and a 31-year unbeaten run at Eden Park.

The weekend’s matches promise to deliver high-intensity rugby as these All Blacks stars return to their roots, showcasing their skills for provincial teams while gearing up for the challenges ahead.
