Daniel Hillier Shines at Australian PGA Championship, Eyes PGA Tour Card
The Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane has showcased the impressive form of Daniel Hillier. The 27-year-old golfer, who narrowly missed securing a PGA Tour card for 2026, is now making a strong bid in the early stages of the new DP World Tour season. Hillier finished a commendable 18th in the DP World Tour standings last season, falling just under 200 points short of the crucial top ten that would have granted him a card.
Hillier’s current performance at the championship is noteworthy. After an impressive first round, he continued to demonstrate his skill with a four-under-par 67 in the second round, bringing his total to seven-under as he heads into the weekend. His round started on the back nine, where he remained even before showcasing a brilliant front nine. Hillier recorded birdies on the first, second, seventh, and ninth holes, establishing himself firmly in contention.
Another competitor, Ryan Fox, also displayed promise during the tournament. After an opening round of four-under-par, he started strong in his second round with several early birdies. However, Fox faced challenges on the back nine, which included a bogey and a double bogey, impacting his overall standing.
The Australian PGA Championship is a significant event in the golf calendar, attracting top-tier talent and creating competitive opportunities. Hillier’s determination and focus reflect his ambition to secure a place on the PGA Tour next year. As the tournament progresses, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if he can maintain his momentum and achieve his goals.
With two rounds still to go, the stakes are high, and the competition remains fierce. Hillier’s performance not only highlights his potential but also adds excitement to the championship as he seeks to capitalize on this opportunity.
