George Bridge Joins Western Force with Two-Year Contract

Former All Blacks and Crusaders winger George Bridge has signed a two-year contract with the Australian Super Rugby Pacific team, the Western Force. The announcement marks a significant chapter in Bridge’s career as he transitions from European rugby back to the Southern Hemisphere.
Having participated in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Bridge brings a wealth of experience to the Force. In 2022, he signed a three-year deal with the French club Montpellier after six successful seasons with the Crusaders. The 30-year-old expressed enthusiasm about his move to Western Australia, highlighting the club’s positive trajectory.
Bridge stated, “They’re a club heading in the right direction and I’m keen to take on the new challenge and contribute to the club’s success.” His excitement is palpable, especially given his fond memories of Perth, where he has maintained friendships and connections with the club’s staff and players.
The Western Force, established in 2006, aims to strengthen its roster as it looks to compete effectively in the Super Rugby Pacific. Bridge’s addition is anticipated to bolster the team’s performance on the field, given his proven track record in high-pressure situations.
Bridge’s move is particularly noteworthy as it reflects a broader trend of players returning to their home leagues after stints abroad. This shift can be attributed to various factors, including a desire for competitive play and the opportunity to engage with local fans.
As the 2024 season approaches, the Western Force will be eager to integrate Bridge into their strategy. With his experience and skills, he is expected to play a key role in the team’s aspirations for success in the upcoming season.
In summary, George Bridge’s signing with the Western Force signals a new beginning in his career and an exciting phase for the club as they prepare to take on the challenges of the Super Rugby Pacific.
