Liam Lawson Secures Senior Role with Racing Bulls for 2026 Season
Kiwi driver Liam Lawson will remain with Racing Bulls as their senior driver for the 2026 season, following an announcement from Red Bull that highlights a significant shift in the team’s lineup. Lawson’s continuation in this role comes as he prepares to welcome Arvid Lindblad, a young English driver, as his new teammate. This change follows the promotion of French driver Isack Hadjar to the senior Red Bull team, joining reigning world champion Max Verstappen.
The restructuring also sees Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda transition from a race seat to a reserve driver position for both Red Bull and Racing Bulls. The strategic decisions made by Red Bull reflect a long-term vision for the team’s competitive future.
Former Williams team manager Peter Windsor expressed confidence in Lawson’s capabilities, stating that the decision to retain him was clear as the season progressed. During an interview with Mike Hosking on Newstalk ZB, Windsor highlighted that Red Bull’s choice to promote Hadjar and introduce Lindblad was a key factor in Lawson being favored as a senior partner.
The team dynamics will shift significantly with Lawson’s experience juxtaposed against Lindblad’s youthful energy. Windsor noted that Lawson’s established presence within the team positions him as an ideal mentor for Lindblad as they aim for greater achievements in the upcoming season.
As the 2026 Formula One season approaches, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this new partnership develops. Lawson, having secured his role, is expected to leverage his experience to guide his teammate while also pushing for individual and team success. The combination of seasoned expertise and fresh talent could prove pivotal for Racing Bulls as they strive to enhance their performance on the global stage.
