Family Defends Palash Muchhal Amid Wedding Rumours and Health Crisis

Rumours surrounding the postponed wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal have intensified, prompting a family member to publicly defend him. The couple was originally scheduled to tie the knot on November 23, 2023, but celebrations were halted due to health concerns involving Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana.

Following the announcement of the wedding’s postponement, speculation on social media escalated, particularly concerning unverified claims of infidelity against Palash. The chatter grew louder after an Instagram user named Mary D’Costa allegedly shared screenshots of private conversations with Palash, which were subsequently posted on Reddit. Despite the deactivation of her account, these images continued to circulate, fuelling further doubts about the couple’s relationship.

In response to the swirling rumours, Palash’s cousin, Neeti Tak, took to her Instagram Stories to call for restraint. In her message, she stated, “Palash is going through a critical condition today; you all should not judge Palash as wrong without knowing the truth.” She urged the public to approach the situation with sensitivity and compassion, emphasizing the impact of technology on personal lives. “Technology today has come much ahead of humans; that is why people should not judge Palash in the face of rumours… pray for him,” she added.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Palash is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Mumbai. His sister, Palak Muchhal, confirmed the postponement of the wedding on social media, requesting privacy for both families during this challenging time. “Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We would request all of you to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time,” Palak wrote.

The wedding was postponed after Shrinivas Mandhana was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli due to heart attack-like symptoms on the intended wedding day. The day following this incident, Palash was admitted to the same hospital. His mother, Amita Muchhal, shared with Hindustan Times that the stress surrounding the situation had significantly affected her son’s health. She recalled, “Since haldi was done, we didn’t let him go outside. Rote rote ek dum tabiyat karab ho gai. 4 ghante hospital mein rakhna padha… Sab normal aaye but stress bahut hai.” Amita noted that Palash shares a close bond with Smriti’s father, which contributed to the decision to delay the wedding rituals until his health improves.

Adding to the speculation, fans noticed that Smriti has removed all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account. This development has led to increased online chatter regarding the couple’s status. Smriti and Palash began dating in 2019, maintaining a low profile for most of their relationship until revealing their romance publicly in July 2024, coinciding with their fifth anniversary.

As both families navigate these health emergencies and the growing online discourse, they have reiterated their appeal for privacy during this difficult time.
